The Music of the Muse
|
This medieval harper is a one-of-a-kind polymer and mixed media (Pro-Sculpt) figure who would stand 18", but is seated at 14" over a 11" circular wooden base. The Harper wears a linen shirt under his hooded woolen short cape, with brown raw silk pants, and boots of Spanish leather (recycled). His hair is of mohair, tied with a leather thong. A green suade pouch hangs tied to his belt. Perhaps it has held the fairie gold in exchange for playing for the little folk! Perhaps this harp was a gift from the faeries. Perhaps it almost plays by itself! He sits upon an oaken bench, engrossed in the music that emerges. His enchanted harp is fashioned from simple foam core and balsa wood, with nylon sinew strings and with his muse sculpted/carved in paperclay. What effect does she have on the dreamy tunes as his loving fingers dance across the strings? I am sure they are both transported to another realm, one of loving spirit. One of the most amazing things in my life is the beautiful
Celtic harp that now stands by my hearth, an incredible gift from an old
and dear friend with whom I recently reconnected. Playing it connects me
with other times and magic-filled places and opens my heart. This figure
emerged from that place.
