Many of the earliest depictions of the ancient harp are in the hands of
angels, playing in heavenly processions. Harmony was inspired by the
timeless angels of Edward Burne-Jones, a long time favorite painter of
the Pre-Raphaelites. My friend and handyman Michael Curry built for me the
small harp of mahogany and gave me the idea for her name. Harmony is
something we all need in our lives, and one of the blessings of the music of
the harp. She is dressed in lavender silk, with iridescent lavender ribbons holding up both her harp and her hair. She stands fourteen inches tall, and her wooden oval base is 8x10 inches and painted gold. She was completed during my last Christmas season in Connecticut, that time of year when the magic of the music and especially of the harp seems the most blessed. Click Here for a Close-up Portrait
