Father Christmas
A Portrait in the Russian Style

Father Christmas

This was a commissioned portrait of her husband, by a woman who collects many Santas from many traditions. As a portrait he wears his familiar required glasses. Appearing as Father Christmas from the wintry north country, he can don an optional long white curly mohair beard to complete his disguise. He comes bearing the seasonal celebratory evergreen.

He stands dressed in a long blue velvet Russian-style sleeveless vestment, trimmed in (fake) fur and patterned braid, hand-embroidered with snowflakes, and lined with white satin. His long velvet cap hangs with a sparkling snowflake at its tip. Underneath the robe he wears a long satin shirt and pants, leather belt and white leather boots, each embroidered with a snowflake.

He will be celebrating the holiday with his grand daughters in years to come, to remind them of their Grandfather and their Grandmother's love of Father Christmas.
